PM Dahal Hails Emir’s Visit as Milestone for Nepal-Qatar Friendship
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has hailed the visit of the Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to Nepal as a “historic” event that underscores the deep and friendly ties between the two nations, as reported by the Gulf Times.
According to the report, in an interview with the Qatar News Agency (QNA), PM Dahal expressed his optimism that the visit would elevate the bilateral relations to new heights and would see the signing of several agreements, enhancing cooperation across important areas including health, education, infrastructure development, and economic empowerment.
PM Dahal underscored the significance of learning from Qatar’s rapid developmental strides. “We are impressed to see Qatar’s phenomenal development and look forward to learning from their experience, especially since Nepal aspires to achieve better development indicators within a short period of time,” he was quoted saying.
The premier also emphasized the importance of both nations working together in regional and multilateral forums, particularly in confronting climate change and promoting peace and security globally. He commended Qatar’s efforts in resolving conflicts and its role as a mediator in ongoing global issues, including the conflict in Gaza.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Qatar for its humanitarian assistance, notably during the 2015 earthquake and the Covid-19 pandemic, acknowledging the care provided to Nepali workers in Qatar during these challenging times.
This visit, as per PM Dahal, is expected to mark a new beginning in the friendship and diplomatic relations between Nepal and Qatar, setting a milestone in their cooperative efforts towards development and peace in the region.
