PM denied Home ministry to Lamichhane, says: no decision until full text of SC’s verdict

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has declined to give the Home Affairs portfolio to former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Rabi Lamichhane.

After a meeting of the office bearers’ held at the Maoist central office Parisdanda, Kathmandu on Tuesday, Prime Minister and Chair Prachanda said that he will not make anyone Home Minister unless he receives a full text of Supreme Court (SC) verdict on Rastriya Swatantra Party chairman Rabi Lamichhane related case is made public.

Earlier, in a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday, Lamichhane had warned of quitting the government if RSP did not get the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Lamichhane warned that the support given to the government will be withdrawn if they did not get the Home Ministry.

The Home Ministry is without a minister after Lamichhane, who served as Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, tendered resignation from the post after the Supreme Court found him guilty in the citizenship case.

Leader Lamichhane acquired citizenship on Sunday and was elected as the RSP President on the same day.

Coalition partner, CPN-UML is of the opinion that RSP should get the home ministry.
