PM Oli and Indian Minister Khattar Hold Talks on Energy Cooperation and Bilateral Ties

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli met with Indian Minister for Power and Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, at Singha Durbar on Wednesday to discuss deepening cooperation between Nepal and India, particularly in the energy sector.

The meeting, held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, focused on enhancing the friendly and cultural relations shared between the two neighboring nations. Discussions centered on the growing partnership in energy development, regional connectivity, and future avenues of collaboration.

Minister Khattar shared details from his recent visit to the Arun-3 Hydropower Project site, which is under construction with Indian investment. He expressed satisfaction over the progress made so far and reaffirmed India’s commitment to accelerating the project further.

Prime Minister Oli welcomed the ongoing collaboration and emphasized Nepal’s interest in expanding regional energy cooperation for mutual benefit. He noted that recent developments in cross-border energy transmission lines and hydropower investment marked a new era of practical engagement between the two countries.

Also present at the meeting were Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Kumar Srivastava, senior officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other representatives from both sides.

Minister Khattar is currently in Nepal on a two-day official visit at the invitation of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka. His itinerary has included key inaugurations in the Koshi Corridor transmission line project and site visits to strategic energy infrastructure projects.
