PM Oli Embarks on Official Visit to China
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has departed for a four-day official visit to the People’s Republic of China at the cordial invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh, along with Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, bid farewell to the Prime Minister at the VVIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey, high-ranking government officials, and chiefs of security agencies were also present at the send-off.
Prior to departure, Prime Minister Oli was honored with a guard of honor by a unit of the Nepali Army.
During his stay in Beijing, Prime Minister Oli will call on Chinese President Xi Jinping and hold bilateral talks with Premier Li Qiang to discuss matters of mutual interest, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is also scheduled to meet Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress.
The Prime Minister’s agenda includes addressing a program at Peking University and speaking at the Nepal-China Business Forum, organized jointly by the Nepali Embassy in Beijing, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Nepal Federation of Commerce and Industry.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya, Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, Chief Adviser Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Economic and Development Adviser Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada, members of parliament, senior government officials, representatives of the private sector, and media personnel.
Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to return to Nepal on December 5.
