PM Oli Emphasizes Collective Action for a Secure and Prosperous Future at AIT Event

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, currently on a five-day official visit to Thailand, addressed an event hosted by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) today, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to ensure a secure and prosperous future for humanity.

In his speech, PM Oli highlighted Nepal’s commitment to prosperity, security, and human dignity, underscoring the government’s national vision of “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.” He stressed that true development is measured by human happiness and the fulfillment of aspirations, urging international cooperation to tackle climate change, a shared global challenge.

Addressing Nepali students and faculty at AIT, the Prime Minister expressed optimism about their role in Nepal’s development, particularly in hydropower and technological sectors. Nepal’s Ambassador to Thailand, Dhan Bahadur Oli, noted that Nepali students form the fourth-largest group of international students at AIT, with 181 currently enrolled and 1,795 having graduated. Additionally, seven Nepali faculty members, including three trustees, serve at the institution.

AIT President Pai-Chi Li welcomed PM Oli to the institute. His visit marks the first official visit by a Nepali head of government to Thailand, undertaken at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

PM Oli is set to participate in the Sixth BIMSTEC Summit later today and will hold bilateral discussions with leaders from BIMSTEC member states. Accompanying him on this visit are his spouse Radhika Shakya, Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Economic Advisor Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, Government Chief Secretary Eaknarayan Aryal, and Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, among other officials.
