PM Oli Highlights Importance of Sanskrit Education for Nepal’s Development

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasized the vital role of Sanskrit education in fostering societal advancement and building a prosperous Nepal.

Addressing the 77th Senate of Nepal Sanskrit University (NSU) at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar today, PM Oli, who also serves as the Chancellor of NSU, highlighted the contributions of Sanskrit education to societal development. He underscored the importance of integrating Sanskrit studies with modern science and pledged the government’s continued support for its preservation and research.

“Sanskrit education forms the foundation for the development of modern education,” said the Prime Minister. He also acknowledged its role in fostering political awareness within society and stressed the need to safeguard the University’s physical and land assets.

Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, and Pro-Chancellor of NSU, Bidhya Bhattarai, called for aligning higher education with the National Education Policy, 2076 BS, emphasizing competitiveness, production-oriented approaches, and research-driven initiatives.

Newly appointed Vice-Chancellor Pro Dr. Dhaneshwor Nepal vowed to advance Sanskrit literature while preserving its traditional essence.

During the Senate meeting, the University’s education calendar for the fiscal year 2081-82 BS was approved, along with its proposed income and expenditure plans.

The discussions reflected a collective effort to modernize and sustain Nepal’s rich heritage through Sanskrit education while addressing contemporary educational challenges.
