PM Oli Honors Medal-Winning Athletes of International Sports Championships

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli awarded prizes to medal-winning athletes, coaches, and managers of the SAFF Women Football Championship, the 20th Asian Karate Championship, and the CAVA Beach Volleyball Championship.

The awards were distributed during a special ceremony at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar. The event, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, followed a government decision made on December 13 to honor these achievements.

Among those recognized were Amrita Jaisi, main coach Rajendra Tamang, and manager Brinda Dewan for their contributions to the SAFF Women Football Championship, which took place in Kathmandu from October 17 to 30, 2024. Medal winner Arika Gurung and main coach Kushal Shrestha were acknowledged for their success in the 20th Asian Karate Championship, held in Hangzhou, China, from September 17 to 23, 2024. Kamala Pun, Manish Kumari Chaudhary, and coach Rupesh Kumar Bista were awarded for their victories in the CAVA Beach Volleyball Championship, held in Thimphu, Bhutan, from August 1 to 4, 2024.

Prime Minister Oli lauded the athletes for elevating Nepal’s reputation on the global stage through their hard work and determination. He encouraged them to continue competing with pride and high morale, reiterating the government’s commitment to fostering the development of sports in the country.
