PM Oli Lays Foundation for ‘Cinepa’ Film Studio in Banepa

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has inaugurated the construction of ‘Cinepa’, a state-of-the-art film studio set to be built in Banepa Municipality-10, Kavrepalanchok. The foundation stone was laid remotely by the Prime Minister during a special event organized by the Film Development Board at his official residence in Baluwatar.

The upcoming studio will be developed on 42 ropanis of land and is envisioned as a major step forward for Nepal’s film industry, which has long faced challenges due to the lack of a modern, fully equipped production facility—even after more than six decades of domestic filmmaking.

Industry professionals, including producers and artists, have consistently voiced concerns over the absence of proper studio infrastructure, and the launch of Cinepa is expected to mark a significant milestone in addressing those longstanding demands.
