PM Prachanda Meets Bipin’s Parents, Assures Ongoing Efforts for Safe Return from Hamas Captivity
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ met with the parents of Bipin Joshi, a Nepali student reportedly taken hostage by the Hamas militant group in Palestine. The meeting took place at the Dhangadhi Airport on Friday, where the concerned parents sought information about the efforts being made to secure their son’s release.
According to the Prime Minister’s private secretariat, the parents inquired about the ongoing diplomatic initiatives to free Bipin from Hamas and bring him back safely to Nepal. In response, PM Prachanda assured them that maximum efforts were underway, utilizing various diplomatic channels to secure Bipin’s release.
PM Prachanda had arrived in Kailali earlier that morning to attend the inauguration program of the Sudur Paschim Fair. The fair showcases the achievements and advancements in the region.
The tragic incident involving Nepali students occurred as 49 agricultural undergraduates from Sudur Paschim University in Tikapur participated in Israel’s ‘earn and learn’ program. They left for Israel on September 13, and on October 7, Hamas militants carried out two separate attacks. Ten students lost their lives, while Bipin Joshi from Bhimdutta Municipality-3 was reportedly taken hostage. The rest of the students returned home safely.
