
Police Notify Speaker on Arrest of Lawmaker Dhawal Shamsher Rana

The District Police Range, Kathmandu has formally notified the federal parliament secretariat about the arrest of Dhawal Shamsher Rana, a Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker, on charges of a criminal offense.
According to Ekaram Giri, spokesperson for the parliament secretariat, the police cited Article 103(6) of the Constitution as the legal basis for the arrest.
“Addressing the Speaker, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Biswo Adhikari officially informed the parliament that Member of the House of Representatives, Rana, was taken into custody on criminal charges,” Giri told Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) over the phone.
