Post-Monsoon Brings Cold to Nepal, Meteorologists Advise Precaution

With the end of the monsoon season, Nepal has entered the post-monsoon phase, bringing colder weather across the country. Meteorologists have urged the public to take precautions against the dropping temperatures, particularly in the mornings and evenings.

The monsoon officially retreated two days ago, following significant rainfall on September 27 and 28. Since then, the weather has improved, but the clear skies have brought a noticeable chill, especially in the Kathmandu Valley.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu has dropped steadily over the past two weeks. On October 1, the temperature was recorded at 20°C, but it has since fallen to 16°C. Meteorologist Sanjiv Adhikari noted that Kathmandu has been experiencing increasingly colder conditions, with the temperature reaching 14.7°C on Sunday and 16°C on Monday.

This cooling trend is not limited to the capital. Other regions in Nepal are also experiencing a decline in temperature, prompting meteorologists to advise the public to take care and protect themselves from the cold.

The Weather Forecasting Division reported a general impact of the westerly wind in Lumbini, Sudurpaschim, Karnali, and Gandaki provinces, while a mix of westerly and local winds is affecting Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces. Despite some partial weather changes in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, the skies are expected to remain mostly clear today.
