Prachanda, Deuba and Shekhar Stand Firm: ‘We Will Not Allow Our Coalition to Weaken’

The three leaders of the power alliance have affirmed that the appointment of the Chief Minister in Koshi will not weaken the alliance.

Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has provided a written commitment to remain resolute in support of the ruling coalition.

In order to address the Koshi issue, Chairman of the Maoist Center, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, who also serves as the Prime Minister, held a discussion with Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba and leader Shekhar Koirala in Baluwatar.

Following these discussions, an agreement was reached, ensuring that the alliance remains strong and unaffected by political changes in Koshi.

“We are unwavering and resolute in our support of the current power coalition, and we will not permit this coalition to weaken under any circumstances,” stated the written agreement.

In Koshi, Kedar Karki of the Congress, supported by UML, was appointed as the Chief Minister today.

Previously, the central leadership of the alliance had decided to appoint Indra Angbo, the leader of the Maoist provincial parliamentary party, as the Chief Minister.

In Koshi, NC leader Kedar Karki from Shekhar Koirala’s faction laid claim to the position of Chief Minister and received support from the UML.

Consequently, the UML’s discussions regarding a potential split in the power alliance persist, but Prachanda, Deuba, and Shekhar Koirala have all agreed to remain committed to the alliance.
