President Paudel extends condolences Mukesh Kayastha’s family

President Ramchandra Poudel has extended his heartfelt condolence to the family of Mukesh Kayastha of Banepa municipality in Kavrepalanchowk who passed away on May 10.

Kayastha, 32, was bedridden for 17 years since he was shot by a bullet to his temple on April 9, 2006, during the People’s Movement II. He breathed his last in the course of the treatment at Banepa-based Scheer Memorial Hospital last Wednesday night.

In a message of condolence today, the Head-of-the-State expressed his sorrow over the demise of Kayastha, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

President’s press advisor Kiran Pokhrel and press coordinator Khila Karki today visited the Kayastha family in Banepa to convey the President’s condolence message to them. President’s daughter Abagya Poudel also accompanied the two.

Democratic republic had been possible in Nepal due to fighters like Mukesh and their contribution will be in the memories of the future generation, the President states in the message.

Likewise, Bagamati Province minister for water supplies, irrigation, and energy, Tirtha Lama, has assured that the government would address Mukesh’s contribution justifiably.

Banepa municipality mayor Shanti Ratna Shakya handed a letter to President’s press advisor Pokhrel, demanding the government’s attention on behalf of the President to recognize Mukesh as a ‘martyr’.

Mukesh was just 14 when he was hit by a bullet fired by police, leaving him semiconscious rest of his life.
