President Paudel Meets FEMBoSA Chief Election Commissioners, Stresses on Free and Fair Elections
Chief Election Commissioners from the Forum of the Election Management Bodies of South Asia (FEMBoSA), currently in Kathmandu for their 12th annual meeting, visited President Ramchandra Paudel at Shital Niwas. During their meeting, President Paudel emphasized that periodic elections are vital to democracy and citizen engagement with the State. He called for ensuring that every election is free and impartial and expressed hope that the conference would advance impartiality, accountability, and fairness in South Asian elections.
Paudel, representing the Chair country, reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to FEMBoSA’s goals and collective challenges. Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Thapaliya provided an update on the conference, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The event includes representatives from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Maldives, among others.
