President Paudel Mourns the Passing of Former US President Jimmy Carter
Nepal’s President Ramchandra Paudel expressed deep sorrow over the death of Jimmy Carter, the former President of the United States, who passed away at the age of 100 on Sunday.
Taking to the social media platform X, President Paudel paid tribute to Carter’s legacy, highlighting his extraordinary contributions to global peace, human rights, and humanitarian efforts. “His work remains an enduring source of inspiration for the world,” President Paudel wrote, extending heartfelt condolences to Carter’s family and the American people.
Carter, the 39th President of the United States, died peacefully at his home in Plains, Georgia, where he had been receiving hospice care. His wife, Rosalynn Carter, had preceded him in death in November 2023 at the age of 96.
Renowned for his post-presidency humanitarian work, Carter continued conducting diplomatic missions into his 80s and building homes for the underprivileged well into his 90s. His legacy also includes a personal connection to Nepal, where he visited in 2008 to observe the nation’s first Constituent Assembly elections.
The passing of the Nobel Peace Prize laureate has evoked tributes and reflections on his life of service from leaders and individuals across the globe.
