President Ramchandra Paudel Participates in Cow Worship on Tihar’s Third Day
Kathmandu, November 13: In observance of the third day of Tihar, also known as Kartik Krishna Aunsi, President Ramchandra Paudel performed the sacred ritual of cow worship at Sheetal Niwas today. During the ceremony, President Paudel ritually worshipped the cow and provided food for the auspicious occasion.
The third day of Tihar holds special significance as it is dedicated to the worship of cows, symbolizing the divine presence of Goddess Lakshmi. It is a tradition on Shravan Shukla Purnima to tie Rakshasutra (doro) on one’s hand, connecting it to the cow’s tail during Gaitihar.
This ritual is believed to ease the passage across the river Vaitarani after death, according to popular beliefs. Additionally, the fourth day of Tihar involves the tradition of worshiping Govardhan mountain, also known as Gorupuja.
President Paudel’s participation in the cow worship ceremony aligns with the cultural and religious practices observed during the Tihar festival, reflecting the cultural diversity and traditions embraced in Nepal.
