Prime Minister Calls for Commitment to Revolution

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ marked Martyrs Day today by emphasizing the importance of resolving to fulfill the remaining goals of the revolution. Speaking at a program held at the Martyrs Memorial in Lainchaur, PM Dahal paid tribute to the sacrifices made by martyrs for the political, economic, social, and cultural transformation of Nepali society.

“The great martyrs have made supreme sacrifices for the establishment of inclusive democracy and the overall betterment of our nation. Today, we remember their commitment and dreams,” said PM Dahal, urging everyone to work with dedication to achieve the aspirations of the martyrs.

Reflecting on the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for national sovereignty, people’s democracy, and livelihood, Prime Minister Dahal stated that their legacy would continue to inspire present and future generations. He expressed heartfelt respect for the martyrs and called upon all citizens to contribute through their words and deeds to realize the dreams of those who gave their lives for the country.

During the ceremony, PM Dahal specifically remembered and paid respects to notable martyrs such as Shukraraj Shastri, Dharmabhakta Mathema, Dasharath Chand, Gangalal Shrestha, and others who played pivotal roles in overthrowing the autocratic Rana oligarchy in 1997 BS and establishing democracy.

Additionally, the Prime Minister extended his respects to the disappeared fighters and wished for the speedy recovery and long life of the injured ones. Martyrs Day, observed on the 16th day of the Nepali month Magh each year, serves as a reminder to honor and remember those who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
