Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli Reaffirms Government’s Commitment to Eradicating Corruption
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to preventing, controlling, and eliminating all forms of corruption. Speaking at today’s meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives, PM Oli clarified the objectives and reasons for amending the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059.
“The incumbent government is resolute in its commitment to rooting out corruption,” Prime Minister Oli stated, reinforcing the policy of zero tolerance towards corruption. He highlighted that controlling corruption is essential to achieving the national aspiration of a ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.’ “I will not involve myself in corruption and will not allow others to do so,” he affirmed.
PM Oli explained that the amendment to the Act is necessary to control corruption and maintain good governance, which are crucial for steering the country towards prosperity. He underscored that the government’s primary priority is to ensure social justice, peace, and security, with a focus on keeping the nation and its people at the center of all efforts.
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of establishing the norm that everyone is equal in the eyes of the law. He reiterated that the government is actively working to uphold this principle and to maintain a just and equitable society.
This renewed commitment from the Prime Minister comes at a time when the government is taking significant steps to strengthen legal frameworks and implement measures aimed at eradicating corruption, thereby fostering a transparent and accountable governance system.
