Prime Minister Oli Urges Nepali Youths Abroad to Return and Contribute to Nation Building

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called upon Nepali youths living abroad to return home and contribute to creating employment opportunities in Nepal. Speaking at the World Leaders Forum, organized by Columbia University on Monday, Oli emphasized the importance of youth participation in fulfilling the nation’s aspiration of a “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.”

As the keynote speaker at a dialogue on “Nepal’s Journey of Democracy and Economic Development,” Prime Minister Oli highlighted that although there is data on students and youths leaving Nepal, the country lacks records on those who have returned. He urged the youth to engage in nation-building and take advantage of government initiatives like small-scale industries and startup programs designed to foster employment.

“The economic situation of Nepal is not as weak as it may seem,” said Oli. “I see immense potential for prosperity, which can be realized in a short time with dedication and hard work. We are a rising democracy, positioned between economic giants like India and China, and Nepal is poised to become a multi-dimensional economy for sustainable growth.”

The Prime Minister also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to maintaining good governance and transparency, emphasizing that the only goal is to ensure prosperity and happiness for all Nepalis. He underscored the importance of unity among youth in driving the nation’s transformation.

During his address at the “Lead-Free Future: Partnership Launch and Pledging Event,” organized by USAID and UNICEF, Prime Minister Oli expressed solidarity with the global lead-free campaign. He stated that Nepal has already recognized the harmful effects of lead on children’s health and has taken steps to reduce its usage, including introducing a food security bill in parliament.

The event was attended by high-profile figures, including US First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, the Presidents of Dominica and Malawi, and other international dignitaries.
