Prime Minister Prachanda Asserts Strengthening National Economy
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ declared a positive trajectory for the national economy, citing gradual strengthening during his tenure. Addressing the inauguration of the Dolakha Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Trade and Tourism Festival, he highlighted improvements in remittances, revenue, and foreign currency reserves.
The Prime Minister expressed optimism about the economic upswing and pledged a new approach to his work, solidifying his commitment to sustaining the positive momentum. He noted the Festival’s potential to enhance Dolakha’s production and tourism, revealing plans for a highway connecting China to India through Dolakha. Additionally, he voiced support for the construction of a ‘film city’ in the region.
Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), called for the government’s serious consideration in fostering a vibrant economy through collaboration with the private sector.
Former Minister Parbat Gurung emphasized the pivotal role of good governance in curbing corruption to boost economic growth. Former Minister Jip Chhiring Lama highlighted Dolakha’s hydroelectric potential and urged government investment in hydropower development. Bishal Khadka, former minister of Bagmati Province, advocated for the operation of an airport in Jiri and sought governmental support for the initiative.
The Festival, inaugurated today, is set to continue until January 7, featuring a diverse array of cultural performances that showcase the rich heritage of Dolakha.
