Protests Erupt Outside Pakistan Embassy in Kathmandu Following Terror Attack in Kashmir

Demonstrations broke out outside the Pakistan Embassy in Kathmandu on Saturday following the killing of 26 tourists, including Nepali youth Sudip Neupane, by a terrorist group in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India, on April 22.

More than half a dozen political and civil society organizations staged protests throughout the day at the east and west entrances of the Embassy. The demonstrators strongly condemned the attack, demanding firm action against those responsible.

Protesters also criticized recent remarks made by Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir, alleging that his statements against the global Hindu community had fueled terrorist violence. In a symbolic act of defiance, protesters tore up a photograph of Munir during the demonstration.

Chanting slogans such as “Pakistan Army is dead,” “Abolish Muslim Commission,” and “Hindus cannot be killed,” the protestors accused the Pakistan Embassy of attempting to stoke religious tensions within Nepal.

Organizers of the protest issued a memorandum urging the international community to stand united against terrorism and to ensure compensation for the families of the victims. The event concluded with a peaceful display of solidarity against extremism.
