Protests Halt Koshi Province Assembly: What’s Going On?

The Koshi Province Assembly’s third session has been put on hold for now.

Members from the CPN (UML) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), who are against the government, stood up in protest. This happened while Israial Mansuri, the current Speaker, was leading the meeting.

Today’s plan was to discuss different ideas for new laws, like one about changing the Province Civil Service Act and another about how local services are run.

The meeting was supposed to start at 1:00 pm, but it began a little late. Then, the opposition politicians protested, and the meeting had to stop.

The UML and RPP politicians are upset because they think the way the Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Uddhav Thapa, got approval from other politicians on August 21 isn’t following the rules.
