Rain and Snowfall Expected Due to Westerly Low-Pressure System
The Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted moderate rainfall in some areas and snowfall in the highlands as a Westerly low-pressure system influences Nepal’s weather.
According to meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane, light rain and snowfall have already been recorded in parts of Sudurpaschim Province and some areas of Karnali Province. The weather is currently generally cloudy in Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces, while the hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces are partly cloudy. The rest of the country is experiencing mostly fair weather.
The low-pressure system is also expected to bring fog and haze to parts of the Terai region and the Kathmandu Valley. Lamichhane warned that these conditions could disrupt daily life, particularly affecting transportation and aviation services.
This weather pattern is likely to persist until Wednesday, with a notable drop in maximum temperatures, intensifying the cold. Residents in affected areas are advised to take precautions to stay warm and remain vigilant about potential travel delays.
