Rain and Snowfall Expected in Nepal Starting Monday
The country is set to experience cloudy weather due to the partial impact of western low-pressure systems, with light rain and snowfall likely from Monday, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The Division forecasts partly to generally cloudy skies this afternoon, with chances of light rain in hilly regions and snowfall in mountainous areas. Meteorologist Binu Maharjan noted that the eastern parts of Karnali, Lumbini, Gandaki, Bagmati, and Madhes provinces will witness more significant cloud cover, while Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces will see partly cloudy skies.
Light snowfall is expected tonight in high-altitude areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces. By Monday, dense cloud cover will spread, increasing the likelihood of light rainfall in the hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The minimum temperature in Kathmandu has risen slightly, recorded at 7.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday morning, compared to 5.9 degrees Celsius on Saturday. The increase is attributed to the cloudy nighttime sky, according to meteorologist Maharjan.
Residents in hilly and mountainous areas are advised to prepare for the anticipated changes in weather conditions, including potential snowfall in higher elevations.
