Raise Concerns Over Unsafe Aviation Services, Urge Immediate Reforms
Lawmakers in the House of Representatives have raised serious concerns about the safety of the country’s aviation services, calling on the government to take immediate action to ensure civil aviation safety.
During today’s emergency session, lawmaker Sobita Gautam emphasized the urgent need for legislation to address safety issues within Nepal’s aviation sector. “A serious problem has been seen in the country’s aviation sector. All concerned bodies are requested to make this sector safe. Let’s immediately formulate laws to make the aviation sector systematic and safe,” she urged.
Lawmaker Bina Lama echoed these concerns, highlighting the increasing dangers associated with both air and road travel in recent times. She called on the government to prioritize safety measures in both sectors to protect the lives of citizens.
In addition to the concerns about aviation and road safety, lawmaker Birendra Mahato drew the government’s attention to the ongoing case of Arun Sharma, a 20-year-old from Kalyanpur-3 in Siraha district, who has been missing from Kathmandu for the past 35 days. Mahato also raised the issue of the risk posed by river encroachment in Tarai settlements, urging the government to construct embankments to protect these vulnerable areas.
The concerns raised by the lawmakers underscore the growing anxiety among citizens regarding the safety of transportation infrastructure in Nepal and the need for swift and effective government intervention.
