Ram Navami Celebrated with Devotion and Fervor Across Nepal

Today marks the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, the birthday of Maryada Purushottam Shree Ram, celebrated with great reverence and enthusiasm across Nepal. Also known as Ram Jayanti, this day symbolizes the triumph of truth and righteousness over falsehood and darkness.

Ram Navami falls on Chaitra Shukla Navami, the ninth day of the bright half in the month of Chaitra according to the lunar calendar. It holds significance as the day when Lord Ram, an incarnation of Vishnu, was born to King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya in Ayodhya during the Treta Yuga.

Devotees observe Ram Navami by engaging in various rituals and activities. Recitations of Ram Katha and reading of Ramayana, the epic narrating the life of Ram, are common practices. Hindus visit temples dedicated to Lord Ram or offer prayers at home, expressing their reverence and seeking blessings.

Since the early hours of the morning, devotees have thronged temples and shrines dedicated to Lord Ram throughout the country. In the Kathmandu Valley, significant gatherings are witnessed at revered sites such as the Battisputali Temple, where devotees pay homage to the deity with fervent devotion.

Janakpurdham, home to the historic Ramjanaki Temple, witnesses a significant influx of devotees on this auspicious day. A fair held on the temple premises attracts thousands of pilgrims, including many from India, who participate in rituals and take holy baths in the sacred waters of Gangasagar.

A tradition of staying awake at night with hymn recitals dedicated to Shree Ram is also observed, adding to the spiritual fervor of the occasion.

The reign of Lord Ram in Ayodhya, known as Ram Rajya, continues to serve as a timeless example of righteous governance and ethical leadership. Ram is revered as an ideal figure, epitomizing virtues such as filial piety, respect for elders, and compassion for all beings.

As devotees gather to celebrate Ram Navami, they not only honor the divine but also reaffirm their commitment to upholding truth, righteousness, and harmony in society, echoing the eternal values embodied by Lord Ram and his exemplary life.
