The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has established a Constitution Refinement Suggestion Taskforce to propose amendments to Nepal’s constitution, citing the necessity for revisions in the current context.
The taskforce will be led by Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar and includes members Kantishikha Dhital, Dr. Nandan Yadav, Ganesh Karki, Sobhita Gautam, Asim Saha, Dr. Toshima Karki, Dr. Achyutam Lamichhane, and Megh Ale, according to the party’s acting spokesperson, Manish Jha.
Jha stated that the taskforce will conduct consultations across all seven provinces, engaging stakeholders and constitutional experts to gather insights. The provincial presidents of the party will coordinate these discussions. A consolidated report outlining the party’s stance will be made public after these consultations.
Meanwhile, the RSP Central Committee meeting is underway for the second day at Star Venue, Swoyambhu. The agenda includes deliberations on constitutional amendments, interpretations of the preamble, and strategies for comprehensive national development.
Acting Spokesperson Jha revealed that the meeting will also discuss restructuring the party’s central committee, advisory bodies, and departments. Additionally, amendments to the party’s operational procedures and code of conduct are on the agenda.
The RSP leadership has emphasized that these efforts aim to ensure the party’s organizational readiness and to advocate for necessary reforms in the governance framework.
