Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane Submits Evidence to Clear Name in Cooperative Funds Probe
President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, stated that he has submitted documents to a parliamentary probe committee to demonstrate his lack of involvement in the alleged irregularities concerning cooperative funds. Speaking to the media at Bharatpur Airport on Saturday, Lamichhane, who is also a former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, expressed confidence that the evidence would prove the allegations against him baseless.
Lamichhane explained that the parliamentary committee was established to investigate accusations of his involvement in Gorkha Media’s activities. He viewed this as an opportunity to clarify his position to lawmakers. “The parliamentary probe committee was formed to investigate the case based on the allegations,” he said. “I have taken it as an opportunity to clarify lawmakers against me.”
He further disclosed that he had provided a 10-hour-long statement to the probe committee on Friday, during which he acknowledged his oversight in not being aware of the activities of JB Rai, a figure linked to the case. Lamichhane emphasized that it is the responsibility of state agencies to investigate the sources of funding and assets related to Galaxy TV, where he had previously worked.
Lamichhane clarified that he only became aware of irregularities within Gorkha Media a year and a half after he had left the organization. On a separate matter, he commented on the allegations made by the party’s suspended General Secretary Mukul Dhakal, stating that time would reveal the truth behind those claims.
