Relief for Rabi Lamichhane: SC Dismisses Writ Petition Against Him
28th Jun 2023
The Supreme Court has made a decision regarding a writ petition filed by Yuvraj Safal. The petition aimed to seek the cancellation of Rabi Lamichhane, the president of Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), from his position as a Member of Parliament (MP).
Yuvraj Safal had approached the Supreme Court with a writ, requesting an interim order. The petitioner argued that it was unlawful to provide Lamichhane with a copy of Nepali citizenship without proper evidence of him renouncing his unauthorized citizenship.
The Constitutional Bench, consisting of Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki and Justices Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, Prakashman Singh Raut, and Sapana Pradhan Malla, dismissed the writ petition.
