RPP Chairman Lingden and Senior Leaders Arrested During Protest at Singha Durbar

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden, along with several senior party leaders, was arrested on Sunday afternoon from the premises of Singha Durbar while staging a protest against the government.

Police detained Lingden, RPP Vice Chairman Buddhiman Tamang, and Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi following a demonstration held at the RPP parliamentary party office. The leaders had planned to march toward Baneshwor as part of their ongoing protest campaign but were intercepted and taken into custody before they could leave the restricted area.

The arrests come amid rising tensions between the RPP and the government, with the party demanding the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the recent Tinkune incident and calling for the immediate release of previously detained party leaders.

RPP leaders had earlier signaled that they would escalate their protests and were prepared for mass arrests if their demands were not addressed. Security in and around Singha Durbar was heightened throughout the day in anticipation of unrest.
