RSP Chair Lamichhane Urges Speaker Ghimire to Lift MP Suspension

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane met with Speaker Devraj Ghimire at Singha Durbar today, requesting the revocation of his suspension from Parliament.
Lamichhane had previously submitted a petition to the Speaker two months ago, arguing that his suspension should be lifted since he was released on bail following his legal proceedings.
According to RSP Acting Spokesperson Manish Jha, today’s meeting was a reminder to the Speaker regarding their earlier demand.
The meeting was attended by Vice President Dol Prasad Aryal, Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar, Whip Nisha Dangi, and leaders including Sobita Gautam, Ashok Chaudhary, Shiva Nepali, and Dr. Toshima Karki.
During the discussion, RSP leaders objected to the practice of automatically suspending lawmakers as soon as a case is filed against them. They urged Speaker Ghimire to reconsider and hold further discussions on the matter.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat had suspended Lamichhane on December 23, 2024, following a money laundering case filed against him.
