RSP President Rabi Lamichhane Challenges Kathmandu District Court’s Bail Order in High Court

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has filed a petition at the Patan High Court challenging the Kathmandu District Court’s decision to release him on bail in a case related to the misappropriation of funds from Swarna Laxmi Cooperative.
On Magh 3, Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari of the Kathmandu District Court ordered Lamichhane’s release on a bail amount of six million rupees under Section 68 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Unsatisfied with the decision, Lamichhane has now approached the High Court under Section 73, seeking a regular trial date as per Section 69.
Additionally, Lamichhane is expected to file a similar petition against the Chitwan District Court’s order, which had set a bail amount of 5.4 million rupees on Magh 24 in connection with the Sahara Cooperative case. He has already appealed against the bail orders issued by the Kaski and Rupandehi District Courts.
While an investigation concerning Lamichhane’s involvement in the misappropriation of savings from the Sano Paila Cooperative in Parsa has been conducted, no formal case has been registered yet.
Supporters of the Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangha gathered outside Harihar Bhavan upon learning of Lamichhane’s arrival to file the appeal. Following his court visit, Lamichhane briefly addressed the media alongside his supporters.
