Sancharika Leading Honour 2080 Awarded to Journalists Harikala Adhikari and Usha Lohani

Veteran journalists Dr. Harikala Adhikari and Usha Lohani have been honoured with the prestigious Sancharika Leading Honour 2080. The awards were presented by Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, during the ninth general convention of Sancharika Samuha Nepal, a national forum of women journalists and communicators.

The event also recognized other notable contributions in journalism. Journalist Dhanu Bishwakarma received the Sancharika Equality Award 2080 for her powerful feature story titled “16 Women Die in 17 Years Due to Menstruation in Chhaugoth,” published in Himal Khabar. The award includes a cash prize of Rs 20,000.

Similarly, the Late Uma Singh Journalism Award 2080 was presented to journalist Sapana Kumari Karna of Janakpur. Karna, who works with Appan TV, was recognized for her dedication to journalism in the Madhesh region. This award includes a purse of Rs 10,000.

Two more journalists were recognized with the Sancharika Protsahan Puraskar 2080: Dolma Sherpa of Indigenous Television and Sarita Tharu of Ratopati.com, both acknowledged for their contributions to the field of communication and media.

All awards were presented by Minister Gurung, who applauded the role of women journalists in strengthening democracy, ensuring inclusion, and amplifying marginalized voices through the power of media.
