The prestigious ‘She Leads Icon’ Award will be presented on January 3 to honor the exceptional contributions of women people’s representatives in Nepal. The award aims to celebrate inspiring women who have made significant strides in various sectors.
The top three women representatives will be selected from 27 shortlisted candidates, out of a total of 140 applicants. Applications were submitted by women from across the country: 24 from Koshi, 14 from Madhes, 12 from Bagmati, 11 from Gandaki, 36 from Lumbini, 16 from Karnali, and 15 from Sudurpaschim provinces. The jury shortlisted four candidates from Koshi, two from Madhes, four from Bagmati, three from Gandaki, seven from Lumbini, four from Karnali, and three from Sudurpaschim for final voting.
The award will recognize women who have made remarkable contributions in areas such as women’s health, entrepreneurship, policy and justice, empowerment, and accountability.
Puja Koirala, Chairperson of Kalpa Empower Women Nepal, the organizing committee, shared that more than 3,000 people are expected to participate in the event. The program will also feature stalls showcasing locally produced goods and an information center to promote women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
Organizers hope the event will inspire women across Nepal, highlighting the powerful role of women representatives at the local level.
