Siraha: 5 Individuals, Including 2 Chinese Nationals, Face Charges of Illegal Mining

The Divisional Forest Office, Siraha, has initiated legal action against five individuals, including two Chinese nationals, for their alleged involvement in illegal mining activities.

The China Railway No-2 Engineering Group, which was given the Kamala-Kanchanpur Road Upgradation Contract, is implicated in a case of illegal excavation.

Specifically, two Chinese from the same China Railway No-2 Engineering Group, along with a municipal engineer and two excavator drivers, have had charges filed against them in connection with the incident.

The case, filed in the District Court of Siraha, centers around accusations of unauthorized excavation along the Khutti River within the Chure forest area of Lahan Municipality-15.

The China Railway No-2 Engineering Group has been illegally exploiting the protected forest areas of Chure. They have been excavating the river with an excavator, bypassing Chure and community forests.

The charges against them stem from their alleged engagement in illegal mining activities, which have raised concerns about environmental degradation and the protection of Nepal’s precious natural resources.
