Six Lives Lost in Fire Incidents Across Nepal in a Month

In the past month, six individuals, including a man, four women, and a child, lost their lives in various fire incidents across Nepal. These tragic events also left 30 men, 26 women, and three children injured.

According to Deputy Inspector General Dinesh Kumar Acharya, spokesperson for Nepal Police Headquarters, a total of 501 fire incidents occurred nationwide within this period. The fires caused significant property damage, destroying 87 houses, 57 cowsheds, and killing 146 cattle. Additionally, 38 families were displaced, and property worth Rs 404.8 million was destroyed.

To combat these incidents, 3,614 police personnel were mobilized across the country. The highest number of fire incidents was recorded in Koshi Province with 135 cases, followed by Madhes Province with 105. Other provinces also reported fire incidents, including Bagmati Province (44), Kathmandu Valley (49), Gandaki Province (33), Lumbini Province (64), Karnali Province (30), and Sudurpaschim Province (41).

The recent increase in fire incidents has been attributed to insufficient rainfall, rising temperatures, and dry conditions. In response, the Ministry of Home Affairs has urged the public to remain vigilant, as the risk of fires is expected to grow in the coming days.
