Speaker Ghimire calls for prompt restoration of water supply from Melamchi
Speaker Devraj Ghimire has called for restoring the supply of water from Melamchi to Kathmandu at the earliest possible.
The Speaker made this call while on an observation tour of Ambathan at Helambu-1, the source of the Melamchi Water Supply Project, here today. He stressed on the need of promptly supplying Melamchi water to the residents of Kathmandu.
Speaker Ghimire inspected Ambathan and its upper area as well. He acquired information from the bodies concerned in the context of the delay in channeling water from Melamchi to Kathmandu.
On the occasion, Senior Divisional Engineer of Melamchi Water Supply Development Board, Padam Bahadur Kunwar, informed the Speaker on the works currently being carried out in Melamchi.
Speaker Ghimire was accompanied by former minister Sher Bahadur Tamang, former minister of Bagmati provincial government Saresh Nepal, among others.
