Stampede at Tundikhel in Kathmandu Injures Eight

Chaos ensued at Tundikhel in Kathmandu on Monday as celebratory gatherings for the Maghi and Maghe Sankranti programs, organized separately by the Tharu and Magar communities, led to a stampede, leaving eight people injured.

According to Kathmandu police, the densely packed crowd at Tundikhel, where both communities had gathered in large numbers to celebrate their respective festivals, resulted in a challenging situation. SP Kumud Dhungel, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range, explained that the complexity arose from the simultaneous entry and exit of a large influx of people, causing congestion at the Tundikhel gate.

The injured individuals, numbering eight, were swiftly taken to the National Trauma Center for immediate medical attention. SP Dhungel provided reassurance that their conditions are reported to be normal and under control.
