Supreme Court Halts Disciplinary Action Against Phanindra Devkota

The Supreme Court has issued an interim order halting the disciplinary action against suspended Gandaki Province lawmaker Phanindra Devkota. This order comes in response to a petition filed by Devkota, who challenged the disciplinary measures taken against him by the CPN-Maoist Center’s Gandaki Province parliamentary party.

The bench, led by Justice Prakashman Singh Raut, ruled in favor of Devkota, temporarily suspending the party’s disciplinary actions. The court has also issued a show-cause order to the opposition, demanding an explanation for their actions against Devkota.

Devkota, who has been a prominent figure in the Gandaki Province assembly, faced disciplinary measures from his party, leading to his suspension. The Supreme Court’s interim order provides him with temporary relief and ensures that the party’s actions remain on hold pending further judicial review.
