Suspended Judge Giri Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison for Rape

Suspended judge Bhuwan Giri has been sentenced to seven years in prison in a rape case filed by his ex-wife, Aarati. The Kathmandu District Court delivered the verdict on Monday.

A single bench of Judge Durga Bahadur Bhusal handed down the sentence, marking a significant decision in the case. In addition to the prison term, the court has ordered Giri to pay a fine of Rs 300,000 as compensation to the victim.

This verdict highlights the legal system’s stance on such serious accusations, even involving individuals within the judiciary.
