T20 WC: New Zealand near to semis, beat Ireland by 35 runs

New Zealand defeated Ireland by 35 runs in a Group 1 match of the T20 World Cup at Adelaide Oval on Friday

Batting first, New Zealand scored 185/6 in 20 overs.

Chasing the target of 186, Ireland ended up scoring only 150 losing nine wickets in 20 overs.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson posted a half-century. He scored 61 off 35 balls.

New Zealand has seven points from five games and its high net run rate of 2.113 makes it the favorite to finish atop Group 1 ahead of England and Australia.

New Zealand has almost secured its place in the semifinals with a 35-run comfortable victory over Ireland.

Ireland was already out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
