T20 World Cup: Ireland Loses to Canada by 12 Runs

In a thrilling T20 World Cup match, Ireland fell short by 12 runs against Canada. Chasing a target of 137 runs set by Canada, Ireland managed to score only 125 for the loss of 7 wickets.

Ireland’s Mark Adair top-scored with 34 runs, followed by George Dockrell with 30, Andrew Balbirnie with 17, and Lorcan Tucker with 10. Canada’s bowling attack was led by Jeremy Gordon and Dillon Helliger, who each took two wickets, while Junaid Siddiqui and Saad Bin Zafar claimed one wicket apiece.

Batting first in New York, Canada posted a total of 137 runs for 7 wickets. Despite a shaky start, Nicole Kirton and Shreyas Movva stabilized the innings, scoring 49 and 37 runs respectively. Contributions also came from Pargat Singh with 18 and Aaron Johnson with 14 runs.

Ireland’s Craig Young and Barry McCarthy each took two wickets, while Mark Adair and Gareth Delaney picked up one wicket each.

In the overall standings of Group A, the USA leads with 4 points. India and Canada both have 2 points, placing them in third and fourth positions respectively. Canada had previously lost to the USA in their first match.
