Tamu Lhosar being celebrated today

‘Tamu Lhosar’ which is celebrated as the New Year by the Gurung community is being observed today.

The Gurung Community organized a rally at Basantapur to mark the celebration of Tamu Lhosar.

The government has announced a public holiday on the occasion of Tamu Lhosar. People from the community performed cultural dances and exchanged greetings attired in traditional dresses.

The festival is marked on Paush 15 as the sun rays come early in the geography of Gurung settlements including Lamjung, Gorkha, Tanahun, Syangja, Manang, Kaski and Parbat. And then, the festival is marked gradually by the Tamang and Sherpa communities in the Nepali months of Magh and Falgun, respectively.
