Taplejung Lawmakers Urge Immediate Action Following Devastating Floods and Landslides

Lawmakers representing Taplejung district in the Federal Parliament have brought Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s attention to the loss of life and property caused by recent floods and landslides in various parts of the district. So far, five people have died and numerous physical structures have been damaged due to these disasters.

Members of the House of Representatives, Yogesh Bhattarai, Urmila Thebe, and Lila Devi Bokhim (Limbu), met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister today. They informed him that hundreds of people have been displaced from their homes, as houses have been damaged, and movement and transportation have been hindered. The damage includes motorable bridges, suspension bridges, wooden bridges, and roadways affected by the disasters.

During the meeting, Home Minister Lamichhane acknowledged the extent of the damage in Taplejung and expressed a commitment to prioritize rescue, relief, and reconstruction efforts. He emphasized the importance of coordinating and collaborating with local, provincial, and federal government offices in these efforts.
