Third Investment Summit kicks off, Prime Minister inaugurates
The much-anticipated Third Investment Summit commenced in Kathmandu today, inaugurated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The summit, a pivotal event for bolstering investment in Nepal, has drawn significant international participation.
The Nepal Investment Board has set up 23 exhibition stalls to showcase various projects and has issued concept notes for 19 potential investment ventures. Over the course of two days, the summit will host 11 parallel sessions, starting with the inauguration session followed by two major discussions on the first day.
A highlight of the summit is the opportunity for investors to engage directly with key figures such as Prime Minister Dahal and Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun. These interactions aim to foster a deeper understanding and potentially secure investment commitments.
The event is co-organized by the private sector, reflecting its integral role in economic development. Notable speakers at the summit include Indian Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal; UK State Minister for Asia Pacific Affairs, Anne-Marie Trevelyan; and UNCTAD Secretary General Rebeca Grynspan, among others.
The agenda also features addresses from influential global financial leaders such as Yingming Yang, Vice President Chair of ADB, and Rajit Mishra, Acting Vice Chair of Asian Infrastructures Investment Bank.
Former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is also a major opposition leader, along with other prominent figures in Nepal’s business community, will participate in discussions aiming to outline the future path of Nepal’s economic landscape.
The First Investment Summit was organized on March 2-3, 2017 and the Second Investment Summit on March 29 and 30, 2019.
