Three Arrested in Kailali With Gold, Silver, and Foreign Currency Worth Over Rs 10 Million
The Armed Police Force (APF) apprehended three individuals at the Kauwakheda border area in Bhajani Municipality-5, Kailali, with gold, silver, and foreign currency valued at over Rs 10 million.
The suspects, identified as Mahendra Bahadur Shahi (36) of Chaukuni Rural Municipality-10, Surkhet, Harka Bahadur BK (31) of Birendranagar Municipality-1, and Mahesh Sunar (32) of Panchpuri Municipality-11, were arrested late last night, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailendra Thapa, Joint Spokesperson of the APF.
Authorities confiscated 620 grams of gold worth approximately Rs 8,079,561, 8.9 kilograms of silver valued at Rs 1,528,460, and Rs 611,625 in foreign currency, including various denominations of Indian rupees and Saudi riyals. Additionally, four mobile phones and silver-plated utensils were recovered from their possession.
The APF is continuing its investigation into the case, as authorities suspect the trio may be part of a larger smuggling network.
