Three More Nepali Nationals Confirmed Dead in Russia-Ukraine War
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has confirmed the tragic deaths of three more Nepali nationals in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. MoFA Spokesperson Amrit Bahadur Rai conveyed this heartbreaking news, stating, “We have received information about the deaths of three more Nepalis.”
The three individuals identified as victims of the Russia-Ukraine war are Hari Prasad Aryal from Syangja, Bhar Bahadur Shah from Kailali, and Rajkumar Giri from Dhading, according to Rai.
Raju Kunwar, the ward chairman of Waling-14 in Syangja, disclosed earlier on Tuesday that 23-year-old Hari Aryal had lost his life while fighting for Russia. Kunwar explained that the government mechanism had informed him about Aryal’s death and that necessary documents were to be sent.
Aryal, a former Nepal Army soldier, had traveled to Russia on October 20, reaching the country through Dubai after a four-day transit. Kunwar shared, “It has been revealed that he had served the Nepal Army for around three years and quit his job only recently.”
This sorrowful update follows the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ confirmation on December 4 of the deaths of six Nepali nationals while serving in the Russian force, which had invaded Ukraine in February 2022. The previously identified victims were Sandip Thapaliya of Gorkha, Rupak Karki of Banganga-1 in Kapilvastu, Dewan Rai of Pokhara in Kaski, Pitam Karki of Putali Bazar in Syangja, Raj Kumar Roka of Melung-6 in Dolakha, and Ganga Raj Moktan of Ilam-5 in Ilam.
The Nepali community mourns the loss of these brave individuals and extends its condolences to their families during these challenging times. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to closely monitor the situation and provide support to affected families.
