Three Opposition Parties to Vote Against PM Oli’s Vote of Confidence
Three opposition parties have decided to vote against the vote of confidence demanded by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
The decision was taken at a meeting attended by CPN Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ United Socialist Party Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, and National Independent Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane.
Barshman Pun, Deputy General Secretary at the Maoist Center, confirmed the decision, stating, “We will not give a vote of confidence on Sunday. The new government should have been formed according to Article 76 (3) of the Constitution. It is unconstitutional to form the government again under Article 76 (2).” Pun added that there is a danger of autocracy when big parties come together, emphasizing the need for a strong opposition.
Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to take a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives on Sunday.
