Three Tigers Die in Cage at Parsa National Park

Three tigers housed within a cage at Parsa National Park (PNP) have perished in recent months. Among them were two males and one female, originally rescued from Chitwan National Park and Thori of Parsa, respectively, and subsequently brought to PNP.

An eight-year-old adult male elephant, also brought to PNP after rescue from Chitwan National Park, has recently passed away, as reported by the Parsa National Park Administration. PNP Information Officer Santosh Bhagat stated that the wild cat, which had been ailing for several days, was discovered deceased during routine feeding by the caretakers.

Additionally, two tigers housed in a cage at PNP had succumbed to illness two months earlier. The PNP Administration suggested that their deaths might be attributed to illness, as they were confined in a cage designed for only two tigers.

PNP Chief Conservation Officer Ram Chandra Khatiwada explained that the tigers perished due to prolonged captivity following their rescue.

According to a tiger census conducted in 2022, the population of Royal Bengal Tigers in PNP was estimated to be 41.
