Thulokhola Hydropower Project Nears Completion in Myagdi

The 21.3-megawatt Thulokhola Hydropower Project in Myagdi district is nearing completion, with all major construction and equipment installation works finalized.

Project Manager Binod Paudel said that test runs of the installed turbines at the powerhouse in Kuyinemangale, Raghuganga Rural Municipality-8, have begun. Developed by Joint Energy Limited, the project includes a completed dam, tunnel, powerhouse, and switchyard.

An 8-kilometre transmission line is under construction to connect the generated power to the national grid, with test transmission scheduled for May 15.

The project is funded through a mix of Non-Resident Nepali and institutional investments, with 70% of financing led by Nepal Bank Limited. The estimated total cost is around NPR 3.6 billion.
